MER 2013, a successful event in honour of real heroes
The 2013 edition of the Memorial “Heroes of Revolution”, an important rugby event held in Ghencea, between 5-7 July, was another opportunity to remember and to introvert our thoughts towards Radu Durbac and Florica Murariu, two of the greatest Romanian sportsmen, who tragically died more than 23 years ago, during the Romanian Revolution of December 1989.
The international competition, organized in honour of the two military rugby players, started with the following teams: Steaua Bucharest, Romania U23, French Defence Force (SNM XV) and Moldavia “A”.
Steaua won the competition, as it defeated the French Defence Force, and the player of the final match was Laurentiu Melinte, awarded by Bobby Durbac, the son of the late Radu Durbac, who remembered: “My father always loved the traditional matches between Steaua and the French Defence Force; he was looking forward to watching these matches, in Romania and, next year, in France; during the 70s, this tradition was militarily respected! It is my soul event!”.
The event was spectacular as it has been organized by DSM (Durby Sports Marketing), which, as official partner, succeded in involving well-known brands, such as Stanleybet, Sadolin, Nutline, Shell, Coca Cola or Carrefour and media partners, such as Digisport, Rpressport and Sport Total fm.
DSM has been involved in many organizational aspects, from dealing with Digisport, that broadcast all 4 matches live, to offering perimeter led or fixed board advertising to its partners, from editing and printing football match programmes, holding press conference, to the slightest details, such as, for example, printing all invitations!
This international non-profit tournament is considered as the most important one in Romania. DSM together with CSA Steaua Bucharest, represented by the club Commander, Colonel George Boroi, had an important contribution to organize the competition in good conditions. Durby Sports is once again thanking him for all his support and involvement.
