Duckadam Cup – For young footballers, in memory of a legend
Leaving this plane too soon, in December 2024 at just 65 years old, Helmut Duckadam is a football legend whose unique performance - four penalties saved in the European Champions Cup final against FC Barcelona on May 7, 1986 - will forever keep him in the hearts of the red-blue fans and beyond, his performance also being recorded in the Guiness Book of World Records.
His excellence and professionalism are values that must be transmitted to young players, future talents who will contribute to the performance of Romanian teams and the national team. Based on this belief, his wife, Alexandra Duckadam, took the initiative to organize a sports competition that will both honor the memory of the great goalkeeper and will inspire young people to follow their dream based on the authentic values of football: passion, determination and fair play.
Durby Sports Marketing was involved in supporting and promoting this event scheduled for May 9-11, 2025 at Cheile Gradiste, where eight U9 and U11 teams from the football academies of the clubs FCSB, Rapid, Dinamo, Universitatea Craiova, UTA, Farul Constanta, Politehnica Timisoara and Universitatea Cluj will take part.
"In addition to the permanent support we give to events aimed at young players, first of all it is a duty of honor for us to support this first edition of the tournament that honors the memory of Helmut Duckadam." Helmut was a close friend with whom we shared unforgettable moments in the 15 years of partnership during which we managed to collaborate exceptionally and he represents a standard of honor, fairness, modesty, diplomacy", stated Bobby Durbac, general manager of Durby Sports Marketing.
