Side by side with Stejari in the campaign for the World Cup in France
The year 2022 brings with it an important year for Romanian rugby, Stejarii having the opportunity to qualify for the World Cup in France in 2023 since the end of the Rugby Europe Championship 2022.
Stejarii will play three home matches with Russia, Portugal and Georgia, all of which will be played at the National Rugby Stadium Arc de Triomphe and two away matches, with Spain and the Netherlands. At the moment, Romania is in the 2nd place in the Rugby Europe Championship ranking, 2021 edition, which ensures the direct qualification for the World Cup. The top two teams in the combined Rugby Europe Championship 2021-2022 will enter direct qualification for the World Cup in France, while the team in 3rd place will enter requalification to obtain the ticket to the Hexagon competition.
At the National Arc de Triomphe Rugby Stadium, Stejarii will start this year's campaign on Saturday, February 5, in the company of the Russian national team, and a week later they will receive a visit from Portugal. The last home game will be on Saturday, March 12 against the strongest opponent and the main favorite to win the trophy, the Georgian team, a match after which the "Antim Ivireanul" Cup will be traditionally awarded.
